SANDY SHORES — The Office of the Mayor issued a formal statement Thursday responding to photographs circulated online this week that allegedly depict Mayor Frank King Sr. in his private office after hours, calling the accompanying claims "false and misleading" while acknowledging a single, narrower point.
The statement, denies "the allegations regarding cross-dressing or any other conduct described in these online rumors," and states that the images and narratives attached to them "are being taken out of context and have been embellished with unfounded speculation."
"The people of Sandy Shores elected me to serve this community, not to entertain baseless gossip," King said in the release. "I remain focused on rebuilding our town, improving public safety, and delivering the results our residents deserve."
"I'll admit this much—I occasionally enjoy listening to what some people jokingly call 'white girl music.' If that's the biggest criticism anyone can make of me, I can live with that," King said. The statement does not identify any specific artist.
The photographs first surfaced Tuesday evening in local community groups, following a report published by The Daily Assumption, That report cited an unnamed passerby who said they were walking a dog past the municipal building, noticed the office lights were still on, and heard music from the street. The Daily Assumption described the image as showing King in a floral dress and, in a second photo reportedly taken from another angle, high-heeled shoes, standing in front of a Bluetooth speaker. The outlet quoted the passerby describing the scene as "unexpected." Several platforms have since removed posts containing the image, citing privacy policy violations.

Statement from Mayor Frank King Sr. Regarding False and Misleading Allegations
SANDY SHORES — The Office of the Mayor is aware of false and misleading allegations currently circulating on social media regarding Mayor Frank King Sr. These claims are based on unauthorized photographs allegedly taken through the windows of the Mayor's private office after normal business hours.
Mayor King unequivocally denies the allegations regarding cross-dressing or any other conduct described in these online rumors. The images and accompanying narratives being shared online are being taken out of context and have been embellished with unfounded speculation.
"The people of Sandy Shores elected me to serve this community, not to entertain baseless gossip," said Mayor Frank King Sr. "I remain focused on rebuilding our town, improving public safety, and delivering the results our residents deserve."
The Mayor did, however, acknowledge one lighthearted detail.
"I'll admit this much—I occasionally enjoy listening to what some people jokingly call 'white girl music.' If that's the biggest criticism anyone can make of me, I can live with that," Mayor King said.
The Mayor's Office also expressed concern over the apparent invasion of privacy involved in obtaining the photographs. Regardless of an individual's role in public service, intentionally photographing someone through the windows of a private office raises serious questions about personal privacy and respect.
The Township encourages residents to exercise caution before sharing or believing unverified information online. False rumors and misleading social media posts distract from the important work currently underway to strengthen Sandy Shores, including infrastructure improvements, public safety initiatives, and ongoing disaster recovery efforts.
Mayor King remains committed to transparency, accountability, and serving every resident of Sandy Shores with integrity and professionalism.
