End of Watch — Del Perro Police Department

Published by Weazel NewsAll stories

Born: April 20, 1969
End of Watch: October 25, 2026 — 22:18 hours

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sergeant Larry Krankenhog Sr., a dedicated law enforcement officer, founding member of the Davis Police Department, Freemason, businessman, husband, and father, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty while serving with the Del Perro Police Department.

Sergeant Krankenhog dedicated a significant part of his life to public service, carrying with him a commitment to his profession and the communities he served. His passing represents a heartbreaking loss for his fellow officers, loved ones, and all those whose lives he touched throughout his years of service.

Before serving with the Del Perro Police Department, Krankenhog was among the founding members of the Davis Police Department, helping establish an organization that would go on to serve its community. His career reflected a longstanding connection to law enforcement and a desire to leave a lasting mark on the institutions he served.

Beyond the badge, Larry was a proud Freemason, an organization built upon fellowship, integrity, and service to others. He was also the proud owner of the Vanilla Unicorn, a business that became another part of his legacy and identity within the community.

Yet, beyond his professional accomplishments and public standing, Larry was a husband, father, and son whose loss will be felt most deeply by those closest to him.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Lee Krankenhog, who stood beside him throughout their life together. He was the son of Maude and Kristoph Krankenhog, and the father of Larry Krankenhog Jr., who tragically passed away in April 2026, also in the line of duty.

The loss of Larry Krankenhog Sr. is made even more heartbreaking by the fact that his son, Larry Jr., had already made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in law enforcement earlier this year. For the Krankenhog family, this is a second devastating loss in a matter of months, as both father and son gave their lives in the line of duty.

Larry is also survived by one brother, with whom he shared a family bond that remains an important part of his legacy.

His death in the line of duty is a solemn reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face in the service of others. While the circumstances of his passing have brought grief to the Del Perro Police Department and the wider community, Sergeant Krankenhog's life should be remembered for far more than the tragedy of his final moments.

He will be remembered as a public servant, a founding member of the Davis Police Department, a Freemason, a businessman, a husband, and a father. His story is now forever intertwined with that of his son, two generations of the Krankenhog family who answered the call to serve and who both made the ultimate sacrifice.

His watch ended at 22:18 hours on October 25, 2026, but the impact of his life and service will endure long after his final shift. His sacrifice will remain a solemn part of the Del Perro Police Department's history and a reminder of the risks officers accept when they put on the badge.

To his wife, Mary Lee, his parents, Maude and Kristoph, his brother, and all those who knew and served alongside him, may his memory bring comfort in the difficult days ahead. May the memories of both Larry Sr. and Larry Jr. serve as a lasting tribute to a father and son whose lives were marked by service and whose loss will never be forgotten.

A badge may be laid to rest, but a legacy of service is never forgotten.

May Sergeant Larry Krankenhog Sr. rest in peace alongside the memory of his son, Larry Krankenhog Jr. Though their watches ended months apart, their legacies will forever remain connected.
