Terror at the Bay: The Night the Clowns Came to Town

Published by Weazel NewsAll stories

A coordinated swarm of costumed criminals brought Paleto Bay to its knees, leaving a trail of burning buildings, stolen vehicles, and honked horns that witnesses describe as "deeply unsettling." The ringleader remains at large.

Yesterday, the sleepy, deeply depressed logging community of Paleto Bay was transformed into a literal circus of horrors. A heavily armed, deeply coordinated cell of domestic terrorists dressed as literal clowns descended upon the town. At the center of the chaos is a mysterious, yet-to-be-identified ringleader known only to federal authorities as the "Leader of the Clowns."

The assault began with a tactical, highly calculated strike on the Paleto Bay Fire Department. In what can only be described as a bizarre display of synchronized vandalism, the face-painted insurgents re-arranged the town's vehicles, Within the hour, the situation had escalated dramatically. Vehicles were reported stolen across three separate blocks. Property damage — storefronts, fires, fences, parked cars, a beloved garden gnome display outside the Paleto Bay general store — mounted rapidly.

Residents were advised by the Blaine County Sheriff's Office to remain indoors, lock all doors and windows, and, according to one BCSO press release, "please, for the love of God, do not engage."

As if that were not enough, an undetermined number of dogs, estimates range from a dozen to "just so many dogs" were then released into the facility. Along with that, the Paleto Bay hospital was also set abalze by the clowns.

"We couldn't get to the fire," said one local paramedic who wished to remain anonymous. "Every time we opened the bay doors, a golden retriever tried to bite my fuckin kneecaps off!"

The situation reached its most dramatic peak when a helicopter was shot down over the northern outskirts of town during a pursuit. Weazel News can additionally confirm, with a heavy editorial heart, that our own Chopper 6 — eleven years of faithful service, -

three Blaine County Broadcaster Awards, one very loyal pilot named Gary — was destroyed in the incident.

The Federal Investigation Bureau confirmed late last night that they have assumed primary jurisdiction, citing the "scale" of the incident. A $2.5 million bounty placed on the Ringleader triggered a secondary wave of chaos, as groups of civilians, some armed, most enthusiastic, all of questionable legal standing, flooded the area in pursuit of the reward.

Multiple pursuits were seen throughout the night, involving many agencies: including the FIB tactical teams, and what one local law enforcement described on radio as "a group of rednecks in a pickup truck who said they were licensed bounty hunters" Weazel News confirmed that they were not licensed bounty hunters.

The FIB has urged civilians to avoid direct confrontation, noting that the Ringleader should be considered "extremely dangerous, extremely organized, and inexplicably committed to the aesthetic." Anyone with information is asked to contact the FIB tip line at their earliest convenience.
